This I Believe

This I Believe – Final Draft

The fact that I personally use too much technology makes it so this entire thing can be taken with a grain of salt, but I believe that technology is a bit too high on the to do list of the world, but its not necessarily a bad thing. It has allowed greater amounts of communication and connection across the globe, and it opens up a lot of different job and hobby opportunities. One of these are gaming, which I do a whole lot of. However, it has statistically reduced the amount of social interaction, especially in children, and has made many other activities like schooling or gaming unavailable to people who can’t afford the tech.

Technological development is an exponentially increasing expansion, with the recent years yielding new and extraordinary devices that were only dreamed of even 20 years ago. It has allowed vast advancements in communication and transportation. Now, anyone with a simple phone can contact someone on the other side of the globe. On a daily basis, I personally talk to people from China and England just to play video games. With the way vehicles are nowadays, some can say the world has gotten a lot smaller. You can go from one end of the world to the other in under a day. This was just a mere fantasy about 300 years ago. Then when it comes to hobbies and jobs, the number is endless. The invention of the computer in 1936 made so many jobs pop into existence, jobs like programming, security systems, and just furthering the technology. Then, when video games came around, many different hobbies and even some jobs came with them. Many people play games casually and just for fun and others play professionally, making a really good living off of it.

Most kids nowadays seem to think that newer is better have expense phones at a far too young age. I personally didn’t even own a phone till I started high school, and even then I haven’t gotten a new one. It makes the social interactions that are so valuable pretty much null and void. I sadly am a prime example of this because I live pretty far out of town, I am on my computer doing different things a lot. It is one of the most addicting things I do. And I have even noticed in some of the elementary schools that they only think that having expensive devices makes you cool or desirable by people. Many of colleges and universities require you to be able to use tech or less you won’t be able to even partake in the school. This can make it so certain people of lower income homes may have a much more difficult time in school, and maybe not even able to go to school. Even in my school, you pretty much need to have some sort of device.

This I Believe – First Draft

The fact that I personally use too much technology makes it so this entire thing can be taken with a grain of salt, but I do believe that in our world today, technology is running a little bit too rampant. There are very few places nowadays that don’t have technology integrated into themselves, which isn’t entirely a bad thing. It makes life easier, it allows greater amounts of communication and connection across the globe, and it opens up a lot of different job and hobby opportunities. However, it have statistically reduced the amount of social interaction, especially in children, has made many other activities unavailable to people who can’t afford the tech, and also made a lot of the expertise that elderly people like grandparents or retirees can provide.

The recent years have yielded more advancements in technology then there was in the 20 years prior. Technological development is an exponentially increasing expansion, with new and extraordinary computers and devices being pumped out constantly. This has proven to be very beneficial to a large percentage of the population in first world countries like USA or Canada. Even in my school, you pretty much need to have some sort of device. One of the worst parts about tech taken over is the fact that it has made many of the elderly people and their knowledge redundant. Almost all of the expertise they can give us is either found useless by younger generations or can be found from the internet.

  1. I totally agree with you. I think that it is taking over the world and that people need to get off their phones. You should say what happens when your on the phone like car accidents. Maybe add in the negatives about having a phone. Or talk about how some people don´t like phones and they would rather like to work with paper and not a computer. I really like this topic and you did a very good job! Keep up the good work

  2. This article is strongly written and well done but, this specific piece would work better as a full on essay about your topic or as a chunk of a debate speech. You have some personal aspects mixed in with the facts and statements but it seems as if it is an argument rather than a personal story with a core belief attached to it.The idea is relevant to a vast majority of people so it is a good topic and it also flows fairly easy. The only thing to consider changing about your article is the level of personality you put into it.
